Choosing BridgeU

London Metropolitan University has a rich educational history dating back to 1848, and is home to a diverse student community. The university offers two campuses in the heart of central London, and was recently awarded a spot in the top 10 UK universities for teaching quality by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024.

London Met was looking to further diversify international student enrolments, and wanted BridgeU’s support to strategically reach regions such as India, Africa, the USA, South America and the EU.

They were also keen to utilise BridgeU’s extensive network and develop long term relationships with international school counsellors in order to create more sustainable recruitment pipelines.

BridgeU’s campaign not only captured the essence of London Met but also attracted a diverse pool of students from around the world.

Introducing London Met to counsellors through our bespoke networking events

In May 2023, BridgeU hosted its first in-person counsellor networking event in Sao Paulo, which was designed to introduce university partners to local international schools in the South American region.

Typically, admissions reps find international school counsellors hard to reach.

BridgeU’s counsellor networking events are designed to support universities foster collaborative relationships with counsellors. This allows universities to gain a better understanding of the specific local needs and concerns of prospective applicants.

Over time, this collaborative relationship enables universities like London Met to design a more localised, tailored approach to their international admissions, ensuring more quality international enrolments in the long-term.

London Met signed up to attend this event, and Patricia Borsa, Senior International Officer, attended on behalf of the university. She was very keen to build new connections with counsellors in South America.

As the only participating university at the event, London Met had a unique opportunity to present a session and network with five local counsellors afterwards.

“Excellent in-person Counsellor event in São Paulo! I am grateful to BridgeU for such an incredible opportunity to connect with counsellors from often ‘closed’ schools. The LATAM team was extremely friendly with a great sense of hospitality. Thank you!!”

After a positive event experience, Patricia was subsequently able to book follow up meetings with all five counsellors, with the goal of building a long term relationship & engaging their students in the coming recruitment cycle.

Paula, one of our Customer Success Managers, highlights that the counsellors are still in touch with Patricia, emphasising the benefit and longevity of our partnership introductions.
