BridgeU – Platform Privacy Notice

Protecting your data, privacy and personal information is very important to BridgeU Limited (“BridgeU”, “our”, “us” or “we”). BridgeU shall ensure that it complies with the following privacy notice when processing personal information on behalf of your school, college, or other academic institution (referred to in this privacy notice as the “Data Controller”). This privacy notice applies only to your use of our intelligent university and course matching software platform (“Platform”). It does not cover the processing of personal information in respect of (i) activities on or in connection with our public website, (“Website”), and (ii) our direct marketing activities.

This privacy notice explains some of your rights in relation to the personal information that we process.

The Platform may contain links to third party websites. If you follow a link to any of those third party websites, please note that they have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for their policies or processing of your personal information. Please check these policies before you submit any personal information to such third party websites.
We are not the controller of your personal information

You acknowledge that the school, college, or other academic institution through which you have been given access to the Platform is the data controller in respect of your personal information. The Data Controller controls your personal information. BridgeU is the data processor and merely processes your personal information in accordance with the instructions given to us by the Data Controller.

Where we store your personal information

The personal information we process may be processed by staff operating outside of the EEA who work for us or for one of our business partners or service providers. Please contact the Data Controller for further details on the specific safeguards applied to the export of your personal information outside the EEA.

Disclosure of your information

We may disclose your personal information to third parties in the following non-exhaustive circumstances:

You have provided your consent.

If we sell any business or assets, we may disclose your personal information to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.

If BridgeU or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, personal information about our users will be one of the transferred assets.

Legitimate interests (i.e. to dispose of our business).

If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal information in order to comply with any legal obligation or to protect the rights, property, or safety of BridgeU, our users, or others.

Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation, or processing is necessary in order to protect the vital interests of a natural person

We may disclose your personal information to third parties, the court service and/or regulators or law enforcement agencies in connection with proceedings or investigations anywhere in the world where compelled to do so. Where permitted, we will direct any such request to you or notify you before responding unless to do so would prejudice the prevention or detection of a crime.

How long we retain your personal data

The Data Controller determines how long we retain your personal data. As a general rule, we will hold the personal information provided to us for as long as is necessary in order to accommodate your use of the Platform and the services made available to you via the Platform, to deal with any specific issues that may raise, or otherwise as is required by law or any relevant regulatory body. Once your account is terminated or deactivated, we shall delete the personal information relating to your account, or otherwise as directed by the Data Controller.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2017/676, you have various rights in relation to your personal information. All of these rights can be exercised by contacting the Data Controller.



Right of access

You have the right to obtain confirmation as to whether your personal data are being processed, and, where that is the case, access to such personal data.

Right to Rectification

We rely on the Data Controller to ensure that the personal information provided to us for processing is accurate. You should notify the Data Controller of any changes to the personal information that you have provided to the Data Controller by sending the Data Controller a request to rectify your personal information where you believe the personal information they have provided to us is inaccurate or incomplete.

Right to erasure / ‘Right to be forgotten’

Asking the Data Controller to delete all of your personal information will result in BridgeU deleting your personal information without undue delay (unless there is a legitimate and legal reason why BridgeU is unable to delete certain of your personal information, in which case we will inform you of this in writing).

Right to restriction of processing

You have the right to ask the Data Controller to stop processing your personal information at any time, although this is likely to result in you no longer being able to use the services made available to you via the Platform.

Right to data portability

You have the right to request that the Data Controller provides you with a copy of all of your personal information and require the Data Controller to transmit your personal information to another data controller in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, where it is technically feasible to do so.

Right to complain

You have the right to lodge a complaint to a supervisory authority such as the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK (see Although we encourage our users first to engage with the Data Controller in the event they have any concerns or complaints.



BridgeU uses cookies to distinguish you from other users. This helps us provide you with a good experience when you use the Platform. Please note that it is possible to disable cookies being stored on your computer by changing your browser settings. However, the Platform may not perform properly or some features may not be available to you if you disable cookies.
