The New BridgeU Analytics: Track Your Students' Trends in Real-Time

We’re pleased to unveil three new Analytics reports, to allow you to better understand your students’ interest, shortlist and application trends.

At BridgeU, we’re a little bit obsessed with data.

From monitoring student progress to reporting on results, we’re strong believers that the right information can help counsellors optimise their guidance strategy and make their jobs easier.

And that’s why we’re pleased to announce the latest update to the BridgeU Analytics feature!

We have recently launched three new reports, designed to give you greater visibility of what your students are doing in real-time, and which countries, subjects and universities they are most interested in.

With this information at your fingertips, we want to give you the opportunity to track student trends, and to make timely and relevant changes to your guidance programme based on these trends.

In this blog post, we’ll give you a tour of the new reports, and show you how you can make the most of them...

What can I do with Analytics?

While BridgeU Insights gives you oversight of how your students’ application results are changing year-on-year, the new Analytics reports allow you to monitor what your students are doing on BridgeU as a group - without having to visit their profiles one by one.

For example, you will be able to:

  • Keep track of how your students are progressing through their university research on BridgeU (profile building; shortlist; application).
  • Identify trends in student interests - including most popular countries, courses, and universities - and tailor your guidance programme accordingly.
  • Closely monitor offer rates and application outcomes as they come in, without waiting until the end of the year.

Though these reports are made to give you a quick, simple overview of your students’ interests and activities, there is also the option for deeper analysis. You can filter your results by criteria such as advisor, graduation year and country, or export a list of each students’ individual data to a csv file.

What do the new reports look like?

Profile Builder

Want to plan your counselling curriculum around your students’ interests? The new Profile Builder report lets you see your students’ country and subject preferences, so you can organise relevant information sessions and brush up on your own knowledge if needed.

Since its launch, many of our partner counsellors have also found this report useful in monitoring how many students have taken the first steps on their university research journey by completing their BridgeU profile - and, perhaps more notably, how many haven’t!

Shortlists

This report was designed to help you keep track of student shortlist activity, allowing you to see which of your students are engaging in the university research process, and take timely action with anyone that is falling behind.

It shows you how many of your students have added universities to their BridgeU shortlist, as well as the total number of shortists (for all students) and the average number of shortlists (per student).

You’ll also have an overview of the variety of institutions your students are considering - including universities, courses and countries are the most shortlisted - which will help you better plan university visits.

Applications

Our final report gives you up to the minute insights into how your students' applications are progressing - including how many students have added universities to their BridgeU application list, the total number of applications that have been submitted, and the most popular universities/courses/countries.

You’ll also be able to track student offers and offer rates as they come in, meaning that you won’t have to wait until the end of the year to report your students’ success to senior leaders and board members.

“In the Analytics tool I can see that the majority of our students seek to apply to business school. I was able to share that with my administrative team and indicate that we can do a lot more career exploration in lower grades to help students not just identify that they want to study business, but the specific type of business.”

Ellen Johnston: College Counselor, International School of Dhaka

How can I make the most of Analytics?

Of course, the new Analytics reports are based on what your students are doing on BridgeU, so the best way to get full and accurate results is to make sure all of your students are using the platform!

If you aren’t already doing so, you can set tasks and deadlines for your students. And with the new reports, it’s easy to see who has (and has not) completed certain activities.

When it comes to the application stage, you can also automate some of these processes. If you’re using our Common App Integration, students can pair their Common App and BridgeU accounts so their applications automatically sync over. And if you have students using UCAS, you can import this data into BridgeU, too.

What's next for Analytics?

Don’t worry, we’re not stopping here!

As part of the next phase of our reporting improvements, we are working on a series of reports to help counsellors analyse student trends on a university-by-university basis. You’ll be able to see your students’ interest in specific universities, as well as monitor their admissions success. Watch this space!
